  • Sign-up for the obedience classes is Thursday, March 15th from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Training Building. (9785 Amarillo Blvd. West)
  • Classes begin the week of March 19, 2012.
  • Additional obedience classes will be listed, so check back frequently before sign-up day.  
  • Proof of Rabies vaccination from Veterinarian required for entry into class (exception young puppies).

PUPPY - This is a class limited only to puppies – six months and under. This is to help with the puppy woes and worries of teaching the simplest steps in getting your puppy out and about. Will teach some basic commands but mainly consists of socialization. For the safety of your puppy, she will need to have had at least her second set of puppy vaccinations to attend. Please bring soft treats for your dog.


BASIC OBEDIENCE/CGC & HOUSEHOLD MANNERS You and your dog will learn the basics of training. At the end of six weeks your dog will come when called, walk on a loose leash, sit, down and stay. There will also be information regarding socialization, grooming and health.


INTERMEDIATE - Prerequisite: Beginners class or equivalent. Building on and perfecting the original skills learned in Beginners, handlers and dog will expand knowledge in these areas adding jumping skills.


Pre-Novice - Prerequisite: Intermediate I   This will be a continuation of Intermediate working toward polishing for upcoming ring work new skills such as retrieve.


NOVICE - For this class the dog needs to know all of the individual elements of Novice Obedience in the show ring. (Sit, stay, down, heel with attention, stand, come, and finish.) Work will be done on handling your dog in and out of the ring, setting up for exercises, building enthusiasm, attire, rules and regulations, proofing and polishing the exercises.

 


RALLY - AKC Rally is a successful stepping stone from the AKC Canine Good Citizen® program to the world of obedience or agility. Rally offers both the dogs and handlers an experience that is fun and energizing. The canine team moves at their own pace, very similar to rally-style auto racing. Rally was designed with the traditional pet owner in mind, but it can still be very challenging for those who enjoy higher levels of competition.


CLICKER - Any dog of any age interested in a beginning level of the exciting world of clicker.


OPEN - This class will demonstrate the skills needed for open level exercises plus proofing.


UTILITY - This class will demonstrate the skills needed for utility level exercises plus proofing.
